A video allegedly showing an Assistant Sub-Inspector of the traffic police in Patiala accepting money has gone viral on social media, prompting authorities to initiate a probe, officials said on Thursday.
Reacting to the viral video, DSP Traffic, Patiala, Puneet Singh Chehal said the clip has come to the department’s notice and is being examined. He said further action will be taken only after verifying the facts through a proper inquiry.
The officer said the department is treating the matter seriously and will follow due process before arriving at any conclusion.
He added that if the allegations of corruption are substantiated during the investigation, strict action will be taken against the concerned official in accordance with the rules.
Police said the inquiry is underway and appropriate steps will be taken based on its findings, while reiterating their commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability in the force.
