Manali, July 29
Himachal Pradesh Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh on Wednesday said the state government is taking all necessary measures to ensure apple growers do not face transportation difficulties during the ongoing apple season. He said the Public Works Department has been directed to keep rural roads in good condition and deploy machinery at vulnerable locations to maintain uninterrupted connectivity.
During the second day of his visit to Manali, the minister offered prayers at the Hadimba Devi Temple, inspected the Old Manali bypass road and met residents at the circuit house to hear their grievances. He also inaugurated a bungee-jumping facility in Dhamsu village, in the Manali Assembly constituency, to promote adventure tourism.
Addressing the media, Singh said repair work on rural roads is being carried out on priority to ensure apple-laden vehicles reach markets without delays. He added that officials have been instructed to respond promptly to any disruption caused by rain or landslides.
The minister also reviewed the progress of the Manali bypass road and directed the contractor to expedite construction. He said the bypass would help reduce traffic congestion in Manali town while improving access to nearby villages and tourist destinations.
Singh said the Urban Development Department has allocated ₹3 crore for the bypass project. He also inspected flood-hit areas near the Club House and directed officials to undertake restoration work at the earliest.
Highlighting other infrastructure priorities, the minister said the Kullu Manali Left Bank Road remains an important project for the government. He added that the newly inaugurated bungee-jumping facility would strengthen Manali’s adventure tourism offerings and provide visitors with another recreational option.
