Congress leader says he is attending meetings with workers in Sangrur

Patiala: Senior Congress leader Vijay Inder Singla on Thursday said he has no information about reports that his name is being considered for the Punjab Congress president’s post. Singla said he was neither travelling to Delhi nor Chandigarh and was instead attending meetings with party workers in his Sangrur constituency.

He said he was ready to accept any responsibility assigned to him by the Congress.
“If the party gives me any responsibility, I am ready to work. I am also ready to work as a worker,” he said.
Speaking to reporters, Singla said he learnt about the speculation through the media and had not been informed by the party. His remarks came amid reports that the Congress was considering a successor to Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, who has offered to resign as Punjab Congress president.
“I have no information that I am being considered for the president post. I came to know about it only through the media that my name is ahead,” Singla said.
