The Supreme Court on Friday modified its August 11 order that had called for the capture of all stray dogs in Delhi-NCR and barred their release from shelters. The revised ruling allows stray dogs to be returned to their original locations after being dewormed, vaccinated, and sterilised. Dogs displaying aggressive behaviour or infected with rabies will continue to be kept in shelters. The three-judge bench stressed the importance of humane treatment while maintaining public safety in urban areas.
