Mohali, April 1
A court in Mohali has sentenced self-styled pastor Bajinder Singh to life in prison for rape in a 2018 case. Bajinder, known for his viral sermons featuring the chant “Mera Yeshu Yeshu,” was also convicted of causing hurt and criminal intimidation. Five co-accused, including pastors Jatinder and Akbar, were acquitted. The victim, who pursued the case for seven years, alleged that Bajinder exploited multiple women under the guise of faith. Outside the court, she called Singh “a psycho” and demanded he remain in jail to prevent further crimes. She also sought security, citing threats to her life.
