Schools in Ani and Nirmand closed amid red alert for Kullu

The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Kullu, has ordered the closure of all educational institutions in the Ani and Nirmand subdivisions on Monday following a red alert and heavy rainfall warning issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The order was issued by Deputy Commissioner and DDMA Chairperson Anurag Chandra Sharma under Sections 30 and 34(m) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students, teachers and staff.
According to the order, all government and private schools, DIET institutes, Anganwadi centers, colleges, Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), polytechnic institutes, engineering colleges and pharmacy colleges in the two subdivisions will remain closed on July 21.
The administration said the decision was taken based on reports from the Sub-Divisional Officers highlighting adverse weather conditions in the region and the potential risk to commuters and educational institutions.
The district administration has directed all concerned departments and institutions to strictly implement the order and take necessary precautionary measures to safeguard students, teaching staff and other employees.
