Patiala, May 22
Speaking on the Punjab Government’s campaign to control dangerous stray dogs, Balbir Singh said the initiative aligns with the Supreme Court’s strict observations on public safety. He welcomed the government’s decision, stating that while animal rights are important, the safety of people in public spaces must also be protected.
Dr. Balbir Singh said stray dog attacks near schools, colleges, hospitals, and other public places have become a serious concern, with some incidents even leading to deaths. He added that those who claim to love animals should come forward to adopt stray dogs, provide proper care for them, and ensure they are vaccinated, rather than making only public statements on the issue.
Referring to the Supreme Court’s remarks, the Health Minister said a balance must be maintained between animal welfare and human safety. He appealed to dog lovers to actively participate in finding practical solutions that benefit both society and animals.
