Kullu, August 3
A public movement demanding the restoration of deteriorating healthcare services in Himachal Pradesh will begin on Monday at Dhalpur’s Rath Maidan, with protesters also seeking the resignation of the state’s Health Minister.
Addressing the media at Dhalpur, social activist Baldev Thakur said the state has witnessed several incidents in which ordinary citizens have struggled to receive timely medical treatment, while influential individuals continue to receive preferential healthcare. He alleged negligence in the case of the late Manju Sharma in Kullu and claimed that the subsequent report favored the accused doctor.
Thakur said the protest aims to press for improved healthcare services across the state and will begin from Dhalpur before expanding into a broader public campaign. People from Kullu district as well as other parts of Himachal Pradesh are expected to participate in the peaceful demonstration.
Appealing to the public, Thakur said the healthcare system has failed common citizens, particularly people with low incomes, while those with influence continue to bypass rules for treatment. He urged people to join the movement to demand a fair and accessible healthcare system for all.
