Urs adds team silver to her gold; Mohod takes her medal tally to three and books LA28 Olympic berth
Chandigarh, October 3
Pranavi Sharat Urs and Kumkum Anil Mohod won gold medals in golf and archery, respectively, as India’s medal tally reached 79 at the Asian Games here on Saturday.
Urs, 23, became the first Indian woman to win the individual golf gold at the Asian Games. She also helped India secure silver in the women’s team event along with Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar.
Seventeen-year-old archer Kumkum Mohod also scripted history by winning the women’s individual recurve gold. She defeated South Korea’s Oh Yejin 6-5 after the final was tied 5-5 following five sets.
In the one-arrow shoot-off, Oh scored an 8 while Kumkum hit the 10-ring to clinch the title. The victory also secured a quota place for India in the women’s individual recurve event at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Kumkum had earlier won gold in the women’s recurve team event and silver in the mixed recurve team event.
With the two gold medals, India’s tally stood at 18 gold, 26 silver and 35 bronze medals for a total of 79, as of Day 15.
