Jammu, September 28
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a sharp attack on Congress, accusing the party of questioning the Indian Army’s 2016 surgical strikes and echoing Pakistan’s stance on the issue. “Congress asked for proof of the surgical strike. Can you forgive such a party? They can never respect those who sacrifice for the country,” Modi said while addressing a rally in Jammu on Saturday.
Reflecting on Congress’s governance, Modi recalled, “When bullets were fired from across the border, Congress waved white flags. When the BJP responded with shells, the other side came to their senses.” Marking the anniversary of the 2016 surgical strike, Modi asserted, “This is the new India. It enters homes and eliminates terrorists. Those who sponsor terror know that if they provoke, Modi will find them even in the underworld.”
Modi also criticised the political situation in Jammu and Kashmir, targeting Congress, the National Conference (NC), and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). “The people of Jammu and Kashmir are tired of these three families, tired of corruption, discrimination in jobs, terrorism, and bloodshed,” he said, emphasizing that they now seek peace and a better future with a BJP government.
