PGIMER’s Dr Ashima Goyal honoured with lifetime achievement award

Dr Ashima Goyal, a senior professor of paediatric and preventive dentistry at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh, has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Indian Society of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry (ISPPD). The honour was conferred at the society’s 46th annual conference in Bhubaneswar, recognising more than four decades of her work in advancing oral healthcare for children and older adults.

Dr Goyal has held several leadership roles at PGIMER, including Head of the Oral Health Sciences Centre, Sub-Dean (Academics), and Head of the National Resource Centre for Oral Healthcare of Children and the Elderly. She has also led major WHO and ICMR-backed initiatives, among them national projects on fluorosis, early childhood caries and a nationwide toothbrushing programme.

As a researcher, she has contributed to international multicentric studies and served on several professional committees. ISPPD said the award acknowledged her sustained commitment and significant impact on paediatric and preventive dentistry in India.
