PayPal has unveiled a new digital platform called PayPal World, aimed at linking some of the world’s largest digital wallets and payment systems. The service is designed to improve cross-border transactions and is set to launch later this year.

Initially, the platform will enable interoperability between PayPal and Venmo, two of the company’s core services. Future plans include expanding to other global partners such as Mercado Pago, Tenpay Global, and India’s NPCI International Payments Limited (UPI).

PayPal said the goal is to simplify global commerce and improve access to digital payments. The new system will use open APIs and a cloud-native infrastructure to offer high-speed, secure, and scalable transactions across devices and platforms.

The company said PayPal World would support “agentic shopping”, where users interact with AI agents to make purchases and payments in real time.

In the long term, PayPal World is expected to include features such as stablecoin support and dynamic payment buttons, offering users and merchants a seamless global checkout experience.

Starting in 2026, Venmo users will also be able to make purchases from international merchants that accept PayPal.
