Patiala, May 25
A tragic incident shocked Patiala district after a family from Maujpur village in Mohali allegedly jumped into the Bhakra Canal near Kheri Gandian and Mandoli village on Sunday. According to reports, passersby rescued Harprabhjot Singh and his wife, Jaswinder Kaur, from the canal. Their three children, Muskan (12), Rajveer Kaur (8), and Ekamjot Singh (14), drowned in the strong currents.
A team of divers later recovered the bodies of the children and shifted them to the Civil Hospital in Rajpura for postmortem procedures. The Police have taken the husband and wife into custody for questioning.
Authorities said the exact reason behind the family’s alleged suicide attempt is still unknown, and an investigation is underway.
