Organisers say league aims to promote sport and keep youth away from drugs

The final phase of the Namo Tennis Ball Cricket League-2026 will be held at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula from September 28 to October 4, with teams that advanced through various stages across the country competing for the title and a Rs 21 lakh first prize.

The organisers said the league aims to provide a platform to players from rural areas and smaller towns while encouraging young people to take up sport and stay away from drugs.

Tarun Bhandari, who has been reviewing arrangements with the organising team, said the league was being conducted with the message of “cricket to yes, drugs to no”. He said sport could help channel young people’s energy towards discipline, teamwork and leadership.

According to the organisers, the winner will receive Rs 21 lakh, while the runner-up will get Rs 11 lakh. The teams finishing third and fourth will receive Rs 5 lakh and Rs 2.5 lakh, respectively.

Individual awards, including Man of the Match and Man of the Series, will also be presented during the tournament.

Organising committee spokesperson Mukesh Singla said preparations for the Panchkula leg were in the final stages. He said the organisers intended to recognise players’ performances and make the event engaging for both participants and spectators.

Singla said religious figures, Bollywood personalities, Haryanvi, Punjabi and Rajasthani singers, and cricket personalities were expected to attend the event and encourage the players. He added that public figures from political and social spheres were also likely to be present.

The organisers said teams had progressed after competing in different stages of the league in various regions. The Panchkula matches will determine the teams competing for the title and the top cash prize.

Bhandari urged players to maintain discipline and sportsmanship during the matches and appealed to cricket enthusiasts in Panchkula to attend.
