Kanpur, May 7
On the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, Aishanya, widow of Pahalgam terror attack victim Shubham Dwivedi, said the military action carried out by India after the attack brought a sense of justice to grieving families across the country.
Remembering the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, Aishanya praised the Indian Army and the central government for what she described as a strong and historic response to terrorism. She said the operation gave emotional strength to families who lost their loved ones in the attack.
Shubham Dwivedi, a resident of Kanpur, was among the tourists killed when terrorists opened fire in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baisaran area of Pahalgam last year.
Speaking on the anniversary, Aishanya said the painful memories of the attack had resurfaced for all affected families and many others who have suffered because of terrorism.
She said India’s airstrikes targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir felt like justice for families who had been waiting for a firm response after the killings.
Aishanya also renewed her demand that all victims of the Pahalgam attack should be given martyr status. She said the victims were targeted because of their religion and deserved national respect for facing the attack with courage.
She further said the decision to dedicate Operation Sindoor to widows who lost their husbands in the terror attack carried deep emotional significance for the families.
Following the Pahalgam terror attack, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 last year and carried out strikes on terror camps across the border. The operation led to heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, with both sides witnessing military escalation before hostilities ended on May 10 after talks between army officials through the hotline channel.
For families of the victims, Aishanya said, Operation Sindoor remains a symbol of justice, sacrifice, and national honour.
