Panchayat heads to receive training by end of August in Kangra

Newly elected panchayat heads in Kangra district will undergo a training programme by the end of August to help them understand their responsibilities and the rules governing panchayat administration, officials said.

District Panchayat Officer Sachin Thakur said preparations for the programme are underway. The training will cover budget procedures, financial regulations, panchayat responsibilities and other key legal provisions to help newly elected representatives manage local governance effectively.

He said one of the biggest challenges for panchayat heads is ensuring inclusive development by taking all residents along in the decision-making process. Thakur also noted that participation in Gram Sabha meetings often remains below expectations and urged representatives to encourage greater public involvement in village development.

The duration of the training programme is yet to be finalised, and the schedule will be announced once preparations are complete.
