Manali, June 9
The newly elected councilors of the Manali Municipal Council formally assumed office on Tuesday after taking the oath of office and secrecy at a ceremony held at the Municipal Council office in Manali.
The oath-taking ceremony was administered by SDM Manali Gunjit Singh Cheema, who congratulated the newly elected representatives and extended his best wishes for their tenure. All seven councilors elected to the Municipal Council pledged to discharge their duties with honesty, impartiality, integrity, and dedication to public service.
During the ceremony, the councilors vowed to work in the best interests of the people and uphold the responsibilities entrusted to them with sincerity and commitment.
Speaking on the occasion, Cheema said the swearing-in ceremony had been conducted successfully and in accordance with official procedures. He expressed confidence that the newly elected councilors would work together for the overall development of Manali and address civic issues effectively.
He emphasized the need to strengthen cleanliness and sanitation efforts across the town, particularly on the iconic Mall Road, which attracts thousands of tourists every year. Cheema said coordinated efforts by the council would help maintain Manali’s reputation as a clean, beautiful, and well-organized tourist destination.
The newly constituted Municipal Council is expected to focus on improving civic amenities, sanitation, and public services while addressing the growing needs of residents and visitors in the popular hill town.
