Traffic police remove red-blue light and black film, impound vehicle; parents fined for allowing 15-year-old to drive
Panchkula: A 15-year-old Class X student was stopped while driving a Swift car in his school uniform near Sector 12A, Panchkula, on Wednesday after the traffic police noticed a red-blue light on the vehicle. The car also had black film on its windows. The Police Department impounded the vehicle and issued a Rs 37,500 challan for violations.
According to DCP Crime and Traffic IPS Amrinder Singh, SPO Parminder Singh was deployed near Judicial Cut, Sector 12A, when he noticed the black Swift approaching. He signalled the driver to stop, but the vehicle initially continued. Parminder Singh stopped the car and informed the City Traffic Police Station.
Inspector Varinder Kumar, incharge of the City Traffic Police Station, reached the spot and inspected the vehicle and found the minor wearing a school uniform. Two other minors, also in school uniforms, were accompanying him in the car.
Police Commissioner IPS Pankaj Nain said the police removed the red-blue light and black film on the spot. The police subsequently impounded the vehicle and deposited it at the Sector 14 Police Station, Panchkula.
The police issued a total challan of Rs 37,500, including a Rs 5,000 penalty imposed on the parents for allowing the minor to drive, for the violations.
Nain said the focus was on road safety, disciplined driving and compliance with the traffic rules. He urged parents not to let minors drive and follow traffic regulations themselves to set an example for their children.
