Samana, May 26

Violence and chaos erupted during the Municipal Council elections in Samana’s Ward No. 19 after allegations of bogus voting triggered clashes between locals, political workers, and police personnel. Residents alleged that outsiders were brought in to cast fake votes, leading to protests and stone-pelting at security forces.

According to eyewitnesses, tensions escalated after a local youth allegedly slapped a worker linked to the Aam Aadmi Party during the confrontation. Police reportedly responded with aerial firing to control the situation. Amid the panic, one man allegedly climbed onto a rooftop and came into contact with high-voltage wires, suffering severe burn injuries.

The injured man was rushed to the Civil Hospital before being referred to Rajindra Hospital in Patiala for advanced treatment. Senior police officials remain deployed at the polling booths, while residents have launched a protest demonstration outside the area demanding action and a fair inquiry into the incident.
