Shimla, June 2
The Himachal Pradesh High Court lawyers on Tuesday called off their protest after holding discussions with the Chief Minister during which both sides agreed to work towards resolving the issue.
Bar Association president Ajay Kochar said the meeting was held in a positive atmosphere, and the government took the concerns raised by lawyers seriously.
He said several suggestions were discussed during the meeting, following which the government assured that a committee would be constituted to find a permanent solution to the matter.
Kochar said the government also agreed to issue special concessional permits to lawyers. However, only those advocates certified by the Bar Association would be eligible for the facility.
Following successful talks and the administration’s acceptance of their demands, the lawyers decided to withdraw the protest after nearly three hours of demonstration.
