Patiala, May 7
A Patiala district court on Wednesday sent Sanour MLA Harmit Singh Pathanmajra to police remand till May 11 in connection with an alleged illegal mining case. Pathanmajra was produced before the court amid tight security arrangements. A large number of his supporters from the Sanour constituency gathered outside the court complex during his appearance and interacted with the MLA while he was being escorted by the police. Speaking to the media, Pathanmajra’s counsel, Advocate Simranjit Singh Saggu, said the police had earlier obtained a two-day remand in the case and had now secured an extension till May 11 for further investigation.
The case concerns allegations related to mining activities, and the police are continuing their probe into the matter. No official statement regarding the progress of the investigation has been issued by the authorities so far.
