Shimla, June 18

The Central Government will hold a major national event on June 19 to mark the successful implementation of the PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to distribute approximately ₹2,400 crore in incentive payments to more than 15 lakh beneficiaries across the country through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

In Himachal Pradesh, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Shimla, will organise a state-level programme at the auditorium of the Central Potato Research Institute. The event will be chaired by State Labour and Industries Minister Harshvardhan Chauhan.

Addressing a press conference in Shimla, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner Amit Singla said the scheme aims to promote formal employment and support young people entering the workforce for the first time.

According to Singla, eligible employees receive an incentive equivalent to one month’s salary, up to a maximum of ₹15,000, after completing six months of employment. A second installment is provided after 12 months of service and the completion of financial literacy requirements.

Employers are also eligible for incentives of up to ₹3,000 per additional employee per month for 2 years. The manufacturing sector will receive an additional two years of incentives under the scheme.

“The objective of the PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana is to increase formal employment and provide support to first-time job seekers,” Singla said.

The scheme has a total budget allocation of ₹99,446 crore and aims to generate 3.5 crore jobs over a two-year period.

In Himachal Pradesh, 5,510 first-time employees will receive benefits totaling ₹3.01 crore, while 589 employers will receive incentives totaling ₹9.03 crore. Overall, 6,099 beneficiaries in the state will receive more than ₹12.02 crore under the programme.

Around 250 employers and employees are expected to participate in the Shimla event. Member of Parliament Suresh Kashyap and MLA Harish Janartha will attend as special guests.

Singla further stated that by March 2026, the scheme had helped generate 6.46 lakh additional employment opportunities across the country by providing incentives worth ₹247 crore to 4.41 lakh new employees and ₹214 crore to 17,551 establishments.
