Shimla, July 13
The Himachal Pradesh government will launch the High Value Nut Mission 2026 to 2031 to strengthen the state’s horticulture sector and improve farmers’ incomes, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said on Sunday.
The mission will promote the cultivation of walnut, almond, apricot and chilgoza while rejuvenating aging orchards and encouraging high density plantations across the state. It aims to improve productivity and support the long term growth of the horticulture sector.
The government will also establish four hi tech nurseries and two centers of excellence to ensure the availability of quality planting material and modern horticulture support. The initiative will focus on sustainable cultivation and create new opportunities for horticulture farmers across Himachal Pradesh.
The mission is expected to strengthen the state’s horticulture economy and provide long term benefits to farming communities.
