Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Thursday reviewed the progress of ongoing and proposed development projects in Kangra district, including key initiatives in Dharamshala and its surrounding subdivisions.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister sought a detailed update on the construction of the PM Unity Mall in Dharamshala. The mall is part of the Centre’s “One District, One Product” (ODOP) initiative, aimed at promoting locally made products by assigning each district a unique specialty. Sukhu said the scheme would encourage regional development, generate employment opportunities, and help local products gain national and global recognition.

The Chief Minister directed officials to expedite land transfer and forest clearance processes for all development projects in the district. He also emphasised the state’s potential in the hospitality sector, noting that increased investment would strengthen the regional economy while creating jobs and self-employment avenues.

Reviewing infrastructure projects across various subdivisions of Kangra, the Chief Minister called for timely execution and close inter-departmental coordination.

Senior officials including Additional Chief Secretary (PWD) R.D. Nazim, Industries Director Dr Yunus, Chief Engineer Pradeep Kumar, and Special Secretary Harbans Singh Braskon attended the meeting. Kangra Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa joined virtually.
