Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Rajeev Bindal’s brother has been arrested in connection with an alleged rape case in Solan of Himachal Pradesh on Friday. The Police confirmed the arrest of 75-year-old Ram Kumar Bindal following preliminary investigation.

A 25-year-old woman has filed a complaint two days earlier, alleging that Bindal sexually assaulted her during a medical consultation at his traditional medicine shop near the old bus stand in Solan. The accused, a local vaidya (traditional healer), was called in for questioning and later arrested.

According to the complaint, the woman had approached Bindal on October 7 for treatment of a health issue. She alleged that during the examination, he touched her inappropriately under the pretext of medical checks despite her objection. She managed to push him away and reported the incident to the women’s police station in Solan.

The police recorded the survivor’s statement before a magistrate and conducted a forensic inspection of the scene with the assistance of the SFSL Junga team, collecting physical and technical evidence. Based on the evidence and testimony, Bindal was arrested under relevant sections of law.

On the other hand talking to media, Dr Rajeev Bindal, the state BJP chief, accused the police of stooping to their “lowest standard” and described the case as a “politically motivated mischievous act.”
