‘Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan’ celebrates female friendship through ganga mai and durgawati’s bond

Zee TV’s Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan continues to win appreciation for highlighting the strength of female friendship through the relationship between Ganga Mai and Durgawati, portrayed by actors Shubhangi Latkar and Indira Krishna.

Featuring Sheizaan Khan as Siddhu and Amandeep Sidhu as Sneha in the lead roles, the show has carved a niche by focusing on a bond built on trust, respect and unwavering support, despite the contrasting personalities of its two central female characters.

Speaking about the portrayal, Shubhangi Latkar said Ganga Mai and Durgawati complement each other despite being complete opposites. She described Durgawati as fearless and outspoken, while Ganga Mai remains calm, patient and compassionate.

She said television has traditionally celebrated love and family relationships, but female friendships are rarely explored with such depth. According to her, the characters consistently choose trust over misunderstanding and stand by one another through every challenge, making their bond relatable and inspiring for viewers.

Indira Krishna said Durgawati is one of the show’s most layered characters, representing a fearless and independent woman who is unafraid to voice her opinions. She added that although Ganga and Durgawati differ in temperament, they always support each other, with Durgawati standing up for Ganga’s rights and Ganga placing unwavering faith in her friend.

The actor said the friendship has grown into one of the defining relationships in Durgawati’s life, making it a significant emotional pillar in the storyline.

In the upcoming episodes, Ganga Mai and Durgawati will prove that Durgawati was not behind the attempt on Ganga Mai’s life. Realising her mistake, Sneha apologises for doubting Durgawati and begins trying to rebuild her trust. The forthcoming episodes will explore whether the apology is enough to mend their relationship and restore the bond between the characters.
