Punjab, August 10
A toll plaza worker was killed in a horrific road accident near the Kala Jhar Toll Plaza when a speeding Creta allegedly collided with his motorcycle.
Darshan Singh Laddi, state president of the Toll Plaza Workers Union Punjab, said their colleague Narinder Singh Ninja, a resident of Nadampur village, was on his way to the Kala Jhar Toll Plaza for duty when the accident occurred.
The collision was so severe that the motorcycle caught fire, and Narinder Singh died on the spot.
Laddi claimed that following the accident, police allegedly recovered several bags containing poppy husk/opium poppy pods and suspected fake number plates from the Creta. He demanded the immediate arrest of those involved and strict legal action.
He questioned the government’s anti-drug campaign, saying that while the state claims to follow a zero-tolerance policy against drugs, vehicles allegedly linked to drug trafficking continue to operate on the roads.
The Toll Plaza Workers Union Punjab has demanded justice for Narinder Singh’s family and strict legal action against those responsible.
