Devta Raja Ghepan, Mata Hidimba reach Manali

A large number of devotees gathered in Manali to seek the blessings of revered Devta Raja Ghepan, Mata Hidimba and the 18 Nag, who arrived in the town on the 13th day of their religious journey from Malana.

Devta Raja Ghepan, the presiding deity of Lahaul-Spiti, along with Mata Hidimba and the 18 Nag, had traveled to Malana to meet their brother, Devta Jamdagni Rishi, also known as Jamlu Rishi.

The deities had departed from their temple in Sissu on July 25 and reached Malana on July 31. A grand ceremonial meeting between Devta Raja Ghepan and Devta Jamdagni Rishi was held in Malana, witnessed by thousands of devotees.

After staying in Malana for around four days, the deities began their return journey to their temple in Sissu and reached Manali on the 13th day of the pilgrimage.

On their arrival in Manali, devotees gave Devta Raja Ghepan, Mata Hidimba and the 18 Nag a grand welcome and sought their blessings for happiness and prosperity. The deities also visited devotees’ homes in Manali to bless them.

Anuj, priest of Mata Hidimba Jahalma, said Devta Raja Ghepan had reached Manali after completing the 13-day journey. He said the Devta had traveled to Malana to meet his brother after nearly nine years.

He added that devotees in Manali were getting the opportunity to seek blessings from Devta Raja Ghepan, Mata Hidimba and the 18 Nag during their stay.

Local residents Pushpa and Chandra Pradhan said Devta Raja Ghepan is the revered deity of Lahaul-Spiti and holds deep religious significance among devotees.

They said it was a historic occasion for Manali as Devta Raja Ghepan had returned to the town after nearly nine years. They expressed happiness at the opportunity to have darshan of Devta Raja Ghepan, Mata Hidimba, and the 18 Nag, and to receive their blessings.
