New Delhi, February 17
The new Chief Minister of Delhi will take the oath of office on February 20 at Ramlila Maidan, with the BJP legislature meeting to select the leader set for February 19, BJP sources confirmed. Parvesh Verma, who emerged as a significant figure in Delhi’s political landscape after defeating AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency, is widely seen as a frontrunner for the position.
Other potential candidates include Satish Upadhyay, Ashish Sood, and Jitendra Mahajan. The BJP has secured a historic victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, clinching 48 out of 70 seats, ending the Aam Aadmi Party’s decade-long rule. The results were declared on February 8.
