Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama departed from Dharamshala on Friday for Delhi to undergo treatment for his left knee, marking a temporary pause in his engagements in Himachal Pradesh.
The Dalai Lama traveled aboard an Indian Air Force aircraft from Kangra Airport to the national capital, where he is scheduled to receive medical treatment under the supervision of specialist doctors. According to officials, the Tibetan leader has been experiencing discomfort in his left knee for some time, prompting the decision to seek expert medical care.
Speaking on the occasion, Penpa Tsering, President of the Central Tibetan Administration, said all necessary arrangements had been made for the Dalai Lama’s treatment and that his health would continue to be closely monitored during the recovery period.
Officials stated that the treatment plan includes medical evaluation and recovery under the guidance of a team of specialists. Once doctors confirm that he has recovered sufficiently, the Dalai Lama is expected to travel directly to Ladakh to attend his scheduled programs and religious engagements.
The departure drew members of the Tibetan community and followers, many of whom gathered to offer prayers and wishes for the spiritual leader’s speedy recovery. The Dalai Lama, who resides in Dharamshala, remains one of the most respected spiritual figures in the world, and news of his treatment has been closely followed by his followers worldwide.
The Central Tibetan Administration expressed confidence in his recovery and stated that further updates regarding his health and travel schedule would be shared as appropriate.
