Dharamshala, April 27

A meeting of the Congress party was held in Dharamshala under the chairmanship of the state in charge, Rajni Patil, where organizational strategy and upcoming elections were discussed. Around 30 newly appointed block presidents from four districts attended the meeting, along with state Congress president Vinay Kumar.

Addressing reporters after the meeting, Patil said the discussions focused on preparations for upcoming panchayat elections and the 2027 Assembly polls. She said block presidents play a crucial role in strengthening the organization and acting as a link between the party and the public.

Patil said party workers will reach out to people to understand their concerns and grievances. She also raised concerns about the economic situation in Himachal Pradesh, stating that the state’s landlocked geography and reduced financial support from the Center have compounded its challenges. She expressed confidence that the Congress government would address the situation and stabilize the economy.

On candidate selection for municipal corporation elections, she said a committee has been constituted, and the final decision will be taken by the state leadership in consultation with the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister.

Responding to questions on poll guarantees, Patil said people have the right to seek answers, and the government will respond at the appropriate time. She added that the scheme to provide Rs 1,500 to women is being implemented in phases and has begun benefiting people in several areas, with further expansion planned.
