Palampur, April 25
Himachal Pradesh Minister Rajesh Dharmani on Friday said that the Congress has invited applications from aspirants for the Palampur Municipal Corporation elections, with the deadline set for 5 pm on April 26. He said no applications will be considered after the stipulated time.
Addressing a press conference, Dharmani, who is also in charge of the municipal elections in Palampur, said the party will prioritize transparency and collective consultation in candidate selection. “The process will not be based on an individual decision. There will be detailed discussions before finalizing candidates,” he said.
He added that once all applications are received, a scrutiny process will begin, during which each applicant’s strengths and shortcomings will be assessed impartially. The party will also engage with local leaders and residents to gather feedback before making a decision. Dharmani said a survey will be conducted to gauge public support and identify candidates widely accepted by voters. “The aim is to field candidates who are committed to the organization and capable of meeting public expectations,” he said.
He assured that the ticket distribution process will be fair, transparent, and democratic, ensuring equal opportunity for all aspirants. Palampur MLA Ashish Butail was also present on the occasion. The Congress said the selection process will conclude after a comprehensive evaluation, keeping local development priorities and public opinion in focus.
