Kangra, April 21

The Congress on Tuesday began a 10-day training camp for district presidents from Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh in Kangra, aimed at strengthening the party organisation ahead of the upcoming elections.

Around 80 district presidents are participating in the camp at Yatri Sadan, where senior party leaders will guide them on strategies to strengthen the organisation at the district and booth levels.

The programme focuses on energising party workers and building a stronger grassroots network. Leaders are expected to emphasise organisational coordination and election preparedness during the sessions.

Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, Himachal Congress president Vinay Kumar and Jammu and Kashmir Congress president Tariq Hameed Karra reached Kangra on Monday evening to take part in the camp.

All India Congress Committee training-in-charge Sachin Rao is scheduled to formally inaugurate the camp on Tuesday afternoon.

Sources indicated that Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu may attend the camp briefly, subject to his prior commitments. Senior leaders, including Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, are also expected to join during the concluding days.

The camp is being organised as part of the party’s organisational strengthening initiative and is seen as a preparatory step for the upcoming electoral challenges.
