Kangra, August 19
A car travelling towards Chandigarh became trapped in the strong current of Nakki Khad on Kaloha Road in Paragpur amid heavy rain.
The water level in the seasonal stream rose suddenly, and the current became strong enough to leave the car stranded in the flowing water.
According to eyewitnesses, the occupant of the car was rescued with considerable difficulty and brought to safety. The incident created panic at the spot, while the occupant escaped unharmed.
The heavy flow of water has also made the road dangerous, with water reportedly flowing rapidly across the road.
Local residents have urged motorists not to attempt to cross Nakki Khad or other seasonal streams during heavy rain. They warned that water levels can rise suddenly even when the flow initially appears to be low.
