BJP raises concerns over roads, traffic, water supply, healthcare and sanitation in Shimla

The BJP’s Yuva, Kisan and Mahila Morchas jointly staged a protest in Shimla against the Congress government, accusing it of failing to address basic civic issues and fulfil its election guarantees. The protesters raised issues including water supply, poor road conditions, traffic congestion, parking, sanitation, street vending and employment, alleging that development in the state had suffered during the government’s four-year tenure.

Shimla district BJP president Keshav Chauhan said the city was struggling with basic facilities due to what he termed the government’s failures. He alleged that pothole-ridden roads were making movement difficult and also affecting ambulances. Chauhan said traffic congestion was causing prolonged inconvenience to residents and tourists and also questioned the implementation of the 24×7 water supply scheme in Shimla.

The BJP also raised concerns over the proposed shifting of the cardiology department from IGMC and highlighted shortcomings in healthcare facilities at KNH, problems faced by sanitation workers and the absence of a concrete policy for street vendors. The BJP alleged that residents faced multiple civic problems while elected representatives and ministers were on foreign tours.
