Manali witnessed a peaceful and successful polling process for the Municipal Council’s seven seats, with the results now officially declared. BJP-supported candidates secured a clean sweep by winning all seven wards, while Congress-backed candidates failed to win a single seat.
In Ward No. 1, BJP-supported candidate Thakur Das defeated Congress candidate Ajay Katoh by a margin of 50 votes. Ward No. 2 saw BJP-backed Pradeep Gill emerge victorious against Congress-supported Raja by 54 votes, securing 270 votes against Raja’s 216. In Ward No. 3, BJP candidate Isha Rajput defeated Congress-backed Neelam Sharma by 36 votes. Isha secured 169 votes, while Neelam received 133. Ward No. 4 recorded one of the biggest victories, where BJP-supported Neelam Thakur defeated Beena Sharma by 158 votes, polling 309 votes against 151.
Similarly, in Ward No. 5, BJP-backed Seema Bhardwaj defeated Congress-supported Lalita by 101 votes, securing 218 votes against Lalita’s 117. In Ward No. 6, BJP candidate Chandra Devi Bauddh defeated independent candidate Geeta Bauddh by 115 votes. Chandra received 212 votes, while Geeta received 97. Congress-backed candidate Smriti finished third with 73 votes.
In Ward No. 7, BJP-supported Manoj Kumar secured victory over Sher Singh Yaba by a margin of 141 votes. Manoj received 291 votes, while Sher Singh got 151.
Following the declaration of results, celebrations erupted across Manali. BJP supporters gathered in large numbers from Manali Mall Road to the Government Senior Secondary School, raising slogans in support of the victorious candidates.
Speaking after their victory, the newly elected representatives thanked voters for their support and assured the public that they would work collectively to develop the town. The winning candidates also promised to prioritize and complete pending development projects in the Municipal Council area.
