BJP holds protest in Manali against Congress govt’s ‘anti-people’ policies

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Manali Mandal held a protest on August 10 against what it described as the Himachal Pradesh Congress government’s “anti-people” policies, stalled development works and continued neglect of public concerns. Hundreds of BJP workers from the Manali Assembly constituency participated in the protest, which BJP leader and former minister Govind Singh Thakur led. An angry rally was taken out from Rambagh through Manali Mall Road, with party workers raising slogans against the state government.

Addressing the gathering, Thakur alleged that the Congress government had failed on all fronts and that development works in the Manali constituency had come to a standstill. He accused the local MLA of taking credit for projects that had already been sanctioned.

Thakur also criticized the condition of roads in the region despite the ongoing tourism season. He particularly highlighted the poor condition of the Left Bank Road, alleging it has remained dilapidated for the past four years.

He said the deteriorating road conditions were causing daily difficulties for residents, farmers, traders and thousands of tourists.

Thakur further alleged that even after four years of the Congress government, public grievances remained unresolved. He said growing dissatisfaction had forced people to take to the streets against the government’s alleged neglect of development and public issues.
