Dharamshala, April 16
BJP state president Dr Rajeev Bindal on Thursday said the Nari Shakti Vandan Act will significantly enhance women’s participation in governance and politics, while also criticising the state government over its claims on fulfilling public guarantees.
Addressing a programme organised under the Nari Shakti Vandan Act at a community hall in Dharamshala, Bindal said the legislation will act as a strong step towards empowering women politically and ensuring their greater involvement in the decision making process.
He said the central government under PM Narendra Modi has taken consistent steps to strengthen women’s role in the country, adding that earlier governments had not made sufficient efforts in this direction.
During an interaction with journalists, Bindal also targeted the state government, questioning its claims regarding guarantees made to the public. He said that the promises highlighted by the Chief Minister do not reflect the ground reality.
Taking a swipe at the government, he remarked that perhaps only some “hidden guarantees” have been fulfilled, while the commitments made to the people remain incomplete.
Bindal’s remarks come amid ongoing political debate in the state over governance and the delivery of promises, with the issues of women’s empowerment and public accountability remaining in focus.
