Awarapan 2 eyes biggest opening of Emraan Hashmi’s career, surpasses Batwara 1947

Awarapan 2 has recorded strong advance ticket sales, selling more than 20,000 tickets per hour on BookMyShow throughout Friday. The impressive response is notable for a film without a traditional superstar and indicates that the movie could cross ₹10 crore and potentially reach ₹20 crore on its opening day.

If the trend continues, Awarapan 2 will mark the biggest opening of Emraan Hashmi’s career. Only two of his earlier films recorded double-digit openings — Raaz 2, which earned ₹10.35 crore in 2012, and Baadshaho, which collected ₹12.60 crore on its release day in 2017.

With its current pace, Awarapan 2 is expected to surpass both films. The sequel has already surpassed the lifetime collection of the original Awarapan by the end of its first day. It is further tracking among Bollywood’s biggest openings of 2026 and has comfortably outperformed Sunny Deol-starrer Batwara 1947, which released alongside it on August 14.

The original Awarapan opened at ₹79 lakh and collected ₹2.88 crore during its first weekend. Even after adjusting for inflation, the figure remained modest.

Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt, Awarapan 2 sees Emraan Hashmi return as his popular character Shivam Pandit. The film also features Shabana Azmi, Disha Patani and Suvinder Vicky. While reviews have ranged from mixed to positive, Emraan Hashmi’s performance and the film’s overall tone have received particular appreciation.
