New Delhi, October 4
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday condemned the involvement of a
prominent Congress leader in a Rs 5,600 crore drug consignment seized from
North India, labeling it both dangerous and shameful. Shah emphasized the Modi
government’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy for drug-related issues,
aiming for a “Drug-Free India.”
Shah accused the Congress party of fostering a drug menace, highlighting the
devastating impact of drugs on youth in Punjab, Haryana, and other northern
regions during their rule. “Everyone has witnessed the plight of our youth
under Congress’s governance,” he stated.
The Home Minister contrasted the Modi administration’s focus on guiding
youth towards sports, education, and innovation with the Congress party’s
alleged attempts to lure them into the “dark world of drugs.” He
asserted, “The sin of Congress leaders using their political influence to push
the youth into the quagmire of drugs will never be allowed to be fulfilled by
the Modi government.”
Shah reiterated the government’s determination to eradicate the entire drug
network, pledging to target drug dealers regardless of their political
affiliations or influence.
