Alia Bhatt, Tamannaah Bhatia, Shraddha Kapoor among female stars with big 2026-27 line-ups

Indian cinema is gearing up for an exciting 2026-27, with several leading actresses set to headline films across genres ranging from horror and folk thrillers to biographical dramas, gangster epics and action entertainers.

Among the prominent names with highly anticipated projects are Alia Bhatt, Tamannaah Bhatia, Shraddha Kapoor, Kiara Advani, and Janhvi Kapoor, each bringing diverse slates to the big screen.

Alia Bhatt has three major projects in her line-up. She will headline Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal, scheduled for release in August 2026. She has also joined Tumbbad 2, which is slated for December 2027, while Brahmastra 2 remains in the pipeline.

Shraddha Kapoor is set to star in Eetha, a biographical drama scheduled for August 2026. She will also feature in Naagin, a film adaptation of the popular supernatural franchise, giving her slate a mix of serious drama and fantasy spectacle.

Tamannaah Bhatia has one of the busiest line-ups among the actresses. She leads Ragini 3, the latest installment in the horror franchise, and stars opposite Sidharth Malhotra in the folk thriller The Vvaan – Force Of The Forrest, scheduled for September 2026.

She will also portray Preeti Maria in Rohit Shetty’s biographical action drama Maria IPS, alongside John Abraham. In addition, Tamannaah has an untitled action-adventure film with Ajay Devgn, scheduled for release in December 2026.

Kiara Advani, meanwhile, will feature alongside Yash in Toxic, a period gangster drama scheduled for August 2026. The film, reportedly made on a budget of around Rs 600 crore, is among the year’s major theatrical projects.

Janhvi Kapoor will return in Devara Part 2 alongside Jr NTR and Saif Ali Khan, with a 2027 theatrical release targeted. She also stars in Lag Jaa Gale, an action entertainer with Tiger Shroff and Lakshya, scheduled for May 2027.

With films spanning horror, biographical drama, supernatural stories, folk thrillers, period gangster films and action spectacles, the upcoming slates of these actresses promise considerable variety for audiences.

As the 2026-27 release calendar takes shape, their projects are expected to generate strong interest among moviegoers and set up an interesting competition at the box office.
