The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) emerged as the dominant force in the Samana Municipal Council elections in Patiala district, securing victory in 13 out of 21 wards.
According to the election results announced on Thursday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress won two wards each, while the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) won three wards. One independent candidate also won a ward.
Following the victory, senior AAP leader Surjit Singh Rakhra visited Khada Sahib Gurdwara in Samana and addressed the media. He said that despite several allegations made by opposition parties during the campaign, the people of Samana placed their trust in the Aam Aadmi Party.
Rakhra stated that the party would soon appoint its president in the Samana Municipal Council and work towards the city’s development. He further claimed that the victory reflected public support for the developmental work carried out by the AAP government in Punjab.
