Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate Harjinder Singh Dhami was re-elected as president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) for the fourth consecutive term on Monday. Dhami defeated former SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur by securing 107 out of 142 votes cast, while Kaur garnered 33 votes. Two votes were declared invalid. The election took place at the Teja Singh Samundri Hall within the Golden Temple complex, where 142 out of 148 members participated. SAD Working president Balwinder Singh Bhundar on October 24 announced Dhami’s candidacy following discussions with SGPC members affiliated with SAD.
