The Amritsar Commissionerate Police and the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) have registered a case against an accommodation provider for allegedly housing foreign nationals without mandatory registration, while three Thai nationals found overstaying their visas have been deported.
A joint inspection was conducted at a residential building in Pratap Nagar on GT Road, Amritsar, to verify compliance with immigration and accommodation regulations.
During the inspection, five foreign nationals were found staying at the property. Examination of their travel documents revealed that three Thai nationals had continued staying in India beyond the validity of their visas, in violation of immigration rules.
Following completion of the necessary legal procedures, the three nationals were deported to Thailand.
Further investigation revealed that the residential building was not registered on the mandatory Form-III portal for accommodating foreign nationals. The accommodation provider had also allegedly failed to submit the required details of foreign guests to the concerned authorities.
The police registered FIR No. 263 dated November 2, 2026, under Section 23 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, at the B-Division police station against the accommodation provider.
The Commissionerate Police and FRRO have urged hotels, guest houses, paying guest accommodations, homestays and private property owners to strictly comply with mandatory registration and reporting requirements when providing accommodation to foreign nationals.
Authorities warned that violations of these regulations could pose challenges to national security and immigration management and attract legal action.
