Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana has reportedly received a death threat accompanied by an extortion demand running into crores of rupees, prompting Mumbai Police to launch an investigation and raising fresh concerns over the safety of celebrities.
According to sources in Mumbai, the actor received a threatening audio message from an individual claiming to be associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. While preliminary findings suggest that the threat could be a hoax, police are investigating the matter thoroughly to rule out any potential danger.
According to Mumbai Police sources, a forensic examination of the audio clip is currently underway. Investigators are comparing the voice in the threatening message with samples of a suspect bearing the same name available in police records. The analysis is expected to establish whether the threat has any genuine connection with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang or whether someone is impersonating its members.
The development comes after a similar threatening audio message was reportedly received by actor Tusshar Kapoor. The sender had identified himself as Harry Boxer. However, when police compared the voice in the recording with the voice sample of Harry Boxer available in their records, the two reportedly did not match. This raised suspicions that someone could be misusing the identity of the criminal to issue fake threats.
The latest incident has once again brought the security of Bollywood celebrities under the spotlight, particularly following the firing incident involving actor Tiger Shroff’s car on October 18. The incident reportedly caused concern within the film fraternity, with subsequent threats to Tusshar Kapoor and now Ayushmann Khurrana adding to the anxiety.
Amid growing concerns, Mumbai Police is reportedly preparing to hold a high-level security review of prominent Bollywood personalities ahead of Diwali. The proposed meeting is expected to assess potential threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and other criminal networks.
Authorities are likely to review existing security arrangements and identify celebrities who may require additional protection. Meanwhile, the investigation into the threat allegedly received by Ayushmann Khurrana remains underway, with the authenticity of the audio message yet to be established.
