The Punjab Congress leader and working president Dr Raj Kumar Verka has claimed that more than 30 sitting Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs are likely to leave the party in the coming days, alleging growing discontent within the ruling party following the resignations of MLAs Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra and Chetan Singh Jodamajra.

Verka said the two resignations has triggered political turmoil within AAP. Taking a dig at the party, he remarked that Punjab was witnessing multiple instances of what he described as corruption, drug-related problems and alleged exploitation involving the Chief Minister’s family and leaders from Delhi.

The Congress leader claimed he had reliable information that over 30 sitting AAP legislators were preparing to quit. He alleged that deteriorating law and order, extortion demands and the growing drug problem has created dissatisfaction among people as well as members of the ruling party.

Verka further accused the Bhagwant Mann government of misusing its authority and alleged that Punjab was being exploited under the influence of Delhi-based leaders. He claimed that some legislators were concerned about potential accountability for alleged corruption, scams and illegal activities under the present government.

Reacting to AAP’s recently announced list of candidates for 40 constituencies, Verka claimed that several nominees were also considering withdrawing from the electoral contest and leaving the party.

He alleged that AAP had lost public support in Punjab and claimed that voters were preparing to bring about a change in the upcoming elections.

The claims were made by Verka in a political statement targeting the AAP government. No response from the Aam Aadmi Party was included in the supplied statement.
