Meets players at Namo Cricket League, urges youngsters to channelise their energy into sports

Panchkula: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday visited the Namo Cricket League at Tau Devi Lal Cricket Stadium, met players and urged youngsters to stay away from drugs and channel their energy into sports.

Dhami also picked up a bat during his visit and said holding it reminded him of his childhood. He said he still felt young and wanted to play.

He said young people were the future and it was important to keep them away from drugs. Encouraging them towards sports, he said, was necessary for this purpose.

Dhami said the message of “no to drugs, yes to sports” should reach people and young people should use their energy for sports, creativity and nation-building.

He also told the players that there was no real loser on a sports field. A winner achieves success, while a player who loses gains experience and learns for the future, he added.

Dhami said India’s youth had no shortage of talent and that sports had been part of the lifestyle of young people in Haryana. He said Indian, particularly Haryana, sportspersons had brought pride to the country in international competitions, including the Commonwealth Games.

He said strengthening India through sports was the need of the hour and praised Namo Cricket League founder-organiser Tarun Bhandari for his efforts.

On Punjab, Dhami said the prevailing situation was in the BJP’s favour.

On the land law in Uttarakhand, he said it had been implemented, but using land for a purpose different from that for which it was purchased amounted to a violation. He said land should be used for the purpose for which it was bought.

On SIR, Dhami said the Congress was trying to create confusion and was raising such questions to hide its failures. He also said SIR had been conducted 20 times earlier and claimed that votes of many Bangladeshis and infiltrators had been deleted.
