24-tonne consignment of IQF and ready-to-eat products valued at CAD 35,140 exported with APEDA support

Chandigarh/Sonipat: A 24-tonne consignment of frozen food products from Sonipat was exported to Canada on October 1 with facilitation by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).

The shipment from Aetern Foods comprised 2,295 boxes of individually quick frozen (IQF) and ready-to-eat products valued at around CAD 35,140.

The consignment included green peas, mixed vegetables, peas and carrots, sweet corn and samosas. It was flagged off from Sonipat as part of efforts to help Haryana’s Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) access overseas markets through processing, packaging and compliance with global quality standards.

The exporting FPC received support under APEDA’s financial assistance scheme to enter the international market.

APEDA’s Sector 17, Chandigarh, office has been working with farmers, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), FPCs and emerging food businesses to facilitate market linkages, provide export-related guidance and connect them with international buyers. Its efforts have covered fresh produce, including plums and lychees, as well as frozen and other value-added food products.

APEDA chairman Abhishek Dev congratulated the exporter and other stakeholders, saying direct exports by FPOs could help improve value realisation for producers. He also expressed optimism about further growth in Indian food exports to Canada and appreciated NIFTEM’s contribution.

APEDA Chandigarh regional head Harpreet Singh said the shipment marked an important milestone for Haryana’s farmers. He added that the APEDA aimed to help more FPCs from the state enter global markets as exporters.
