Women’s recurve team scripts maiden Asian Games triumph; mixed team earns silver
Chandigarh: India won two gold, one silver and one bronze medal at the Asian Games on Thursday, taking its overall medal tally to 68 on Friday, i.e. Day 14, with archery and boxing contributing to the latest haul.
Kumkum Mohod, Ankita Bhakat and Kirti Sharma defeated South Korea 5-3 in the women’s recurve team final to win the gold medal. It was India’s first-ever gold in the women’s recurve team event at the Asian Games.
Lovlina Borgohain also won gold in the women’s 75-kg category, defeating China’s Ziyi Bao in the gold-medal bout. It was Lovlina’s second consecutive Asian Games final.
India also secured silver in the recurve mixed team event through Dhiraj Bommadevara and Kumkum Mohod. The Indian pair defeated Japan in the semi-final before losing 3-5 to China’s Zhu Jingyi and Li Mengqi in the final.
