India crush Sri Lanka, set up Pak clash for Asiad gold

Ishan Kishan’s 80 lifts India to 169/7 before Bumrah, Axar and Abhishek Sharma help bowl Sri Lanka out for 45

Chandigarh: India stormed into the Asian Games 2026 cricket final with a commanding 124-run victory over Sri Lanka in the semifinal, after posting 169 for 7 and bowling out their opponents for just 45 runs.

Ishan Kishan led India’s batting effort with a brisk 80 off 46 balls, while opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi contributed 38 off 21 deliveries as India posted a strong total.

Sri Lanka struggled against India’s bowling attack and were dismissed for 45, with Jasprit Bumrah returning figures of 2 for 7, Axar Patel taking 2 for 8 and Abhishek Sharma claiming 2 for 2. Washington Sundar picked up one wicket for eight runs.

The victory puts India into the gold-medal match against Pakistan, setting up a much-anticipated clash between the two sides on Saturday.

India will face Pakistan in the final on October 3 at 10 am IST at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. The match will decide the men’s Asian Games cricket gold medallist.

India are the defending champions, having won the men’s cricket gold at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou.
